Design Christmas

Design Christmas is the most festive weekend of the Christmas season, celebrating Finnish design.

Design Christmas brings Finnish designers and design enthusiasts together at the iconic Finlandia Hall, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Get ready for a weekend celebrating Finnish design, culture, art, and festive experiences for all ages! Throughout the weekend, you can discover Christmas gift ideas from more than 80 Finnish designers, including art, ceramics, homeware, natural cosmetics, clothing, and jewellery. You can also take part in creative workshops and enjoy a variety of atmospheric performances and activities.

During Design Christmas, you can also visit the inspiring Visions of Alvar Aalto exhibition, which explores the lives and creativity of Alvar, Aino, and Elissa Aalto. The atmospheric restaurants at Finlandia Hall, Finlandia Cafe&Wine, and Finlandia Bistro, will also be open, serving festive treats and offering a place to relax amid the event’s activities.

Tickets purchased on site during the weekend are available at a special price of €12 per person. Finlandia Hall is also a Museum Card destination!

The bistro serves its à la carte menu and concert menu, as well as the following dishes specially created for visitors to the design market:

• Cheese platter LF, GF 13.00 €
  – A selection of high-quality Finnish cheeses, served with fruit preserve and crispbread with seeds.
• Beef tartare with aioli and little gem lettuce DF, GF 16.00 €
  – Juicy beef tartare served with smooth aioli, little gem lettuce, and pickled shallots.
• Beetroot tartare with hazelnuts and little gem lettuce VG, GF 14.00 €
  – Roasted beetroot tartare and crisp little gem lettuce make a delightful combination, complemented by black garlic mayonnaise, pickled mustard seeds, and hazelnuts.
• Alvar’s Antipasti – Choose any three for 14.00 €
  – Mattila’s pastrami with lovage and horseradish mayonnaise, served with sourdough bread LF
  – Mini Karelian pie with pea hummus and pea shoots LF
  – Smoked vendace with lemon-flavoured sour cream LF
  – Cheeses from Helsingin Meijeri LF
  – Roasted potato with fermented lemon mayonnaise and herb salt VG, GF
  – Mini chocolate tart with blueberries LF, GF

The café serves savoury and sweet treats, wines, speciality coffees, and refreshments.

In addition, the popular vegan brunch will be served on Saturday December 12 from 11:00 to 15:00.
