The principles of Finlandia Hall Ltd's Corporate Social Responsibility
When it comes to its architecture and being a landmark, Finlandia Hall is clearly number one in Finland. Its architectural value has an impact on its international visibility and on its role as a representative of Finland. Its wide range of important political and historical conferences and international congresses places Finlandia Hall ahead of the other congress centres in the country.
Finlandia Hall must take steps to meet the expectations attached to its role as an example of architecture, internationality, pioneering spirit and the Finnish society.
For Finlandia Hall, corporate social responsibility means “a social commitment” that is integral to its business and incorporates financial, ecological and social aspects. The measures carried out achieve and support sustainability. A community can only operate properly if all of its members do their part. Finlandia Hall is committed to the measures required for environmental protection and to prevent climate change to ensure a good quality of life for us and generations to come.
Sustainability and lasting success - our operating principles
The world is constantly changing. In order for us to remain active and energetic amidst these environmental changes, we need to be dynamic and ready to learn.
A foundation for sustainability and corporate responsibility is created through a balance of financial, social and environmental responsibility and the target-oriented measurement of these.
Financial responsibility
Efficient use of our resources is vital for us as a company – not only because of the cost effects but also because of our corporate responsibility towards our customers, partners and other stakeholders. We aim to operate in a profitable, competitive and efficient way to meet our owners' profit expectations and to contribute in the creation of well-being in our society. Proper use of financial resources also provides possibilities for meeting our social and environmental responsibilities in a variety of ways.
Social responsibility
One of the main ingredients in our recipe for success is focus on personnel wellbeing and competence. Personalised training and continuous coaching helps to ensure that our staff have the most up-to-date expertise and that our personnel culture is highly developed. Employee-friendly working conditions, a safe workplace and good product safety combine to create a pleasant atmosphere for our customers.
Environmental responsibility
WWF has granted Green Office certificate for Finlandia Hall 4th November 2009.

Environmental protection is a big deal for us because we want to maintain a good quality of life both for ourselves and for generations to come. In our operations, we aim to use natural resources sparingly and efficiently and to prevent climate change.
We are committed to selecting ecologically friendly energy options for all our premises (district cooling, for example) and following a Green ICT policy. We use energy-saving lamps and LED lighting. We control our water consumption with automatic taps and use long-life natural furniture in our premises.
We contribute to climate protection by monitoring our carbon dioxide levels and adjusting room temperature, air conditioning and ventilation according to our needs. In our restaurant services, we favour seasonal and domestic products.
Recycling has been optimised by appropriate sorting of waste and the use of biodegradable products where possible. We also encourage event organisers and exhibitors to favour durable glass and stone objects. Additionally, we require our suppliers to commit to sustainable operating principles.
We would be happy to advise you on how to arrange events in an environmentally friendly way, and we would be glad to hear of any suggestions for improvement that you may have.
